Terms of use
Last updated 22 October 2026
1. The service
WSE Manager, provided by Business by Design, helps schools complete a self-evaluation against the nine areas of the Whole-School Evaluation instrument and plan improvements. It is a planning and record-keeping tool. It does not replace an official evaluation by the Department of Basic Education, and ratings entered in it are the school's own.
2. Accounts
The principal who registers the school is responsible for the account, for choosing who is invited and with which role, and for removing people who should no longer have access. Keep your password private. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Acceptable use
- Enter accurate information and use the system only for your school's evaluation and improvement work.
- Do not upload learners' personal information, or anything unlawful, harmful or that you have no right to share.
- Do not try to access another school's information or interfere with the system's security.
4. Your information
The school owns the information it enters. We process it only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy. On request we will give the school a copy of its information and delete it when the account is closed.
5. Free trial and payment
New schools receive a free trial. When the trial ends, or if a paid subscription ends or is cancelled, the school can still sign in to view and print its information, but changes are switched off until the subscription is renewed. Pricing is by arrangement. Contact us for a quote for your school. Payment is by electronic transfer; the Subscription page shows the reference to use.
6. Availability
We work to keep the service available and to back up its data, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance from time to time. Please keep your own copy of reports you rely on by printing or saving them as PDF.
7. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, Business by Design is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions a school or official makes based on the ratings or reports in the system. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that cannot be limited.
8. Ending the agreement
A school may stop using the service at any time and ask us to close its account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts the system or other schools at risk.
9. General
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. We may update them, and will tell users in the system when we do. Questions: sharonschoeman@businessbydesign.co.za.
